AuthoraCare Collective is currently seeking a Health Information Manager. This is a full-time hybrid position (current requirements 3 days in office) . Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm working from our Burlington or Greensboro Office.

Job Summary

The Health Information Manager will supervise the Health Information Specialists. The Health Information Manager will provide oversight of the Health Information Management daily operations, oversight of employee payroll and time-off logistics, and staffing within the department in conjunction with the Director of Informatics & Organizational Excellence. The Health Information Manager will perform any health information management duties to meet departmental needs and goals.

Education/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/equivalent work experience required
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year healthcare medical records experience required
  • One year of AuthoraCare medical records experience preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Other: Valid state-issued driver's license required. Must carry automobile liability insurance at limits required by agency. Must have own transportation.

Key Responsibilities

Supervisor Duties:

  • Supervises Health Information Specialists
  • Provides orientation to new Health Information Specialists
  • Participates in hiring, disciplinary and termination decisions alongside Director of Informatics & Organizational Excellence
  • Oversees Health Information Specialists’ timesheets, time-off requests, and other payroll-related responsibilities
  • Coordinates coverage for Health Information Management department
  • Manages productivity of Health Information Specialists
  • Completes annual performance evaluations in collaboration with Director of Informatics & Organizational Excellence for the Health Information Specialists
  • Supports Health Information Management team with questions regarding troubleshooting medical record issues, errors, corrections, and omissions
  • Provides individualized and department-wide staff education on health information management-related topics
  • Prioritizes Health Information Management team culture by planning team engagement, managing interpersonal relations, and ensuring in-person presence with team members in accordance with AuthoraCare policy and the expectation of the Director of Informatics & Organizational Excellence
  • Makes recommendations to the Director of Informatics & Organizational Excellence about department activities, needs, and opportunities for efficiencies

Health Information Management Duties

  • Responds to time sensitive medical record needs as appropriate
  • Provides coverage for any and all health information management duties as needed
  • Collaborates with other departments including but not limited to Referral Intake Center, Patient Access, Medical Services, Compliance, and Community Outreach to complete timely health information management duties
  • Communicates with referral sources and community partners as needed in service to health information management needs. Method of communication includes but is not limited to email, phone, fax, in-person meetings, and educational events
  • Oversees off-site storage and shredding for all campuses including usage and financial stewardship
  • Ensures compliance and excellence with Hospice Outcomes and Patient Evaluation (HOPE) and Home Health Pre-Claim Review (PCR) in collaboration with the Quality and Compliance Department
  • Manages order compliance per organizational and departmental goals
